In April 2000, I dreamt I was back in the foothills of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, talking to an Ethiopian couple about poverty and drought. Mid-conversation I bent down to feel the dry topsoil and knew – beyond all doubt – that I was there to help provide water. With that thought the dream faded.
I woke up, having no idea why I'd had that dream - I'd left Addis ababa in July 1964 and no longer had any Ethiopian friends. However, after a redundancy in 2002, I gave up everything to rediscover my roots and track down nine former classmates from Nazareth School for girls, to discover how the past 40 years had treated them. All I had to help me was the old school photo with the girls' Christian names on the back. But I had my deep faith and total determination to achieve my objective, regardless of any obstacles.
Half the profits from this book are going to charity - the majority to help fund permanent clean water for Ethiopia's urban and rural poor.
